Support crews

Support crew are not mandatory. They can make logistics a bit easier but they will have virtually no impact on your overall placing and pacing.

Support crew are allowed to assist competitors only at the following points:

  • Start and end of the kayak leg. Support Crews can help competitors get in and out of their kayaks / boats at the waters edge. Support crews can also assist after the transition to put kayaks on the rooves of cars.
  • Support crew are NOT allowed to provide any assistance inside any transition or other area and may only enter a transition area upon presentation of a support crew wrist band (handed out at registration) when dropping off or collecting equipment.

Transition area guidlines

The following points and guidelines apply in and around transition areas:

  • Race bibs MUST NOT be removed until inside a Transition Area. This applies to teams and individual competitors.
  • Teams, be sure to pass on the bib AND timing band to your next team-mate and fasten the timing band securely. If it falls off you will not be recorded with a time and you will have to pay for a replacement timing band ($75).
  • Only competitors / team members / support crews wearing a wrist band (given out at registration) will be permitted into transition areas.
  • Your race bib or MTB token (in registration packs) is required to collect MTB from bike compound. Note that the MTB token may be given to support crew so that they are able to collect the MTB for you after you dismount your bike.

We will have security watching over your equipment at the various transition areas until you have had time to return to collect your gear – exact times to be advised.
